British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua is set to make his long awaited return to the ring on July 25 in Riyadh Saudi Arabia where he will face Kristian Prenga in what is being described as a warm up bout ahead of a possible blockbuster clash with Tyson Fury later this year.
The fight marks Joshua’s first appearance since surviving a tragic car accident in December that claimed the lives of two of his close friends. Despite the emotional setback the former world champion is now focused on rebuilding his career and regaining momentum inside the ring.
The bout was officially announced by Turki Alalshikh who confirmed that the fight will be part of the Esports World Cup event and will be streamed live on DAZN. The event is expected to draw global attention as Saudi Arabia continues to position itself as a major hub for high profile boxing events.
Joshua has also secured a two fight agreement under Riyadh Season with the second contest likely to be the long anticipated showdown against Fury a fight that fans have been eagerly awaiting for years.
Speaking ahead of his return Joshua revealed that he has taken time away from the sport to recover mentally and physically. He expressed confidence in his readiness and determination to reclaim his place at the top of the heavyweight division.
His last outing ended in a knockout victory over Jake Paul and he now aims to build on that performance as he steps back into competitive action.
With renewed focus and a clear path ahead Joshua’s return could set the stage for one of the biggest fights in modern boxing history.
