In response to a recent thwarted attack by unidentified gunmen at the Njaba Police Divisional Headquarters, security leaders in Imo State have undertaken a critical confidence-building visit to both the Njaba Divisional Headquarters and the Okwelle community. The visit aims to reassure local residents and reinforce security in the wake of the incident.

According to a press statement from the Imo State Police Command, issued by ASP Henry Okoye, the visit was prompted by the recent attack on Njaba Division and a separate assault on scrap dealers in Okwelle. The gunmen involved in these incidents are suspected to be affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The visit by the heads of various security agencies was intended to strengthen community trust and demonstrate a united front in addressing security concerns. The targeted areas have been on high alert following these attacks, which have heightened fears and disrupted local stability.

The assurance from security leaders comes as part of ongoing efforts to combat insurgency and criminal activities in the region. The presence of top security officials in the affected areas is a strategic move to bolster morale among local residents and ensure that security forces remain vigilant and responsive to threats. As the situation develops, maintaining strong community and security partnerships will be crucial in restoring and preserving peace in the affected communities.
