Omisore Slams Adeleke Over Alleged Illegal Local Government Elections in Osun

Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has launched a scathing attack on Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, accusing him of orchestrating illegal chairmanship and councillorship elections across the state’s 30 local government areas. In a strongly worded statement, Omisore labeled the exercise a “fictitious election” aimed at filling non-existent vacancies, alleging that Adeleke and the state electoral commission blatantly disregarded legal rulings in a move that could plunge Osun into chaos.

Omisore pointed to a Court of Appeal judgment that reinstated the 30 council chairmen and their councillors, arguing that this rendered any new election both unnecessary and unlawful. “The Osun government is lawless,” he declared, accusing Adeleke of ignoring legal advice and violating judicial orders. He warned that the governor’s actions risked sparking unrest severe enough to justify a state of emergency, holding Adeleke solely accountable for any potential breakdown of law and order in the “State of Living Springs.”

The former APC chieftain didn’t mince words, alleging that Adeleke’s push for the elections was driven by a desire to control and siphon council funds. He described the state electoral commission’s involvement as a “show of shame,” orchestrated by the governor to legitimize a fraudulent process. “Disobeying court orders, wasting state resources, and desperately influencing the judiciary to override a superior court decision—Adelake has committed a heinous crime against democracy and humanity,” Omisore charged. He predicted that the election would not survive legal scrutiny, calling it a “shameless charade” and “dancing taken too far.”

Omisore’s criticism intensified as he accused Adeleke of acting against common sense and turning a deaf ear to wise counsel. “God will not allow it,” he asserted, suggesting that the governor’s defiance was setting the stage for instability.
