North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has reiterated his country’s strong backing of Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, pledging continued support for what he described as a just and sacred struggle. According to state media, Kim made the remarks during a meeting with Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov, emphasizing Pyongyang’s commitment to Moscow’s security and territorial goals.

In recent months, North Korea has reportedly supplied Russia with missiles, munitions, and thousands of troops. In return, analysts believe Moscow has provided financial assistance, military technology, food supplies, and energy resources to the isolated state. The growing cooperation reflects deepening ties between the two nations amid global tensions.

During the meeting, both sides discussed expanding military cooperation, including a proposed long term plan covering 2027 to 2031. The visit by Belousov is part of a series of high level exces between Russian and North Korean officials, signaling stronger strategic alignment.

He praised their bravery, sacrifice, and fighting spirit, participating in a ceremony that included burial rites, a concert, fireworks, and an air force display. The event highlighted the human cost of North Korea’s involvement in the conflict.

Meanwhile, relations between North and South Korea remain strained. Despite calls for reconciliation from South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, Pyongyang continues to label Seoul as a hostile adversary. Efforts to revive peace talks have so far yielded little progress.

The strengthening alliance between North Korea and Russia underscores shifting geopolitical dynamics, as both nations seek to counter Western influence while reinforcing their military and political cooperation.
