The Iranian government has estimated that the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel has caused economic losses of approximately $270 billion, marking one of the most significant financial impacts in the region in recent years.
The estimate was disclosed on Tuesday by government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani during an interview with Russian state news agency RIA Novosti. She described the figure as a preliminary assessment, noting that the full scale of damage is still being evaluated.
According to Mohajerani, the first phase of the assessment will focus on physical destruction, including damage to residential and commercial buildings. She explained that further analysis will also cover broader economic consequences such as disrupted trade, lost tax revenue, and overall financial inility caused by the conflict.
The Iranian government also indicated that it intends to pursue compensation claims against both the United States and Israel, arguing that they are responsible for the destruction and economic disruption caused during the conflict period.
Officials stated that discussions on the issue have already been included in diplomatic engagements with the United States during recent indirect talks held in Islamabad over the weekend. These discussions reportedly touched on broader regional tensions and potential pathways toward de escalation.
The announcement comes amid ongoing geopolitical friction in the Middle East, where tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States continue to shape security and economic conditions across the region.
Iranian authorities maintain that rebuilding efforts will require extensive international review and accountability measures to determine the full scope of damages incurred.
