In a series of tweets, he expressed that he no longer identifies as a dubstep artist, stating, “I am no longer a dubstep person,” and elaborated, “Ah I just don’t really enjoy writing it anymore. I’ve spent 10 years exploring it and now it feels right to move on.

This announcement marks the culmination of a prolific period for Flux Pavilion, whose real name is Joshua Steele. He has been instrumental in shaping the dubstep landscape with iconic tracks such as “Bass Cannon” and “I Can’t Stop.” His innovative approach and distinctive sound have left an indelible mark on the genre, influencing countless artists and fans worldwide.

Following his decision to move away from dubstep, Flux Pavilion has been exploring new musical directions. In February 2025, he announced the commencement of work on “.wav Pt 2,” the sequel to his 2021 album “.wav.” This album is expected to showcase his evolving sound and artistic growth, reflecting his desire to push creative boundaries beyond the confines of dubstep.
