A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu, has stated that President Bola Tinubu and the traditional ruler of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, have not endorsed any candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Adelabu made the clarification on Thursday while addressing supporters in Ibadan shortly after returning from Abuja, dismissing reports suggesting that either Tinubu or the Olubadan had backed a preferred aspirant.

He stressed that the president remains neutral in internal party contests, noting that Tinubu governs a large political structure that spans all states, local governments, and wards across the country. According to him, the president has only advised party members to either reach consensus or proceed with direct primaries if agreement is not possible.

Adelabu also dismissed claims of political endorsement from the Olubadan, describing such reports as unfounded. He emphasized that the traditional ruler remains a father figure to all residents regardless of political affiliation.

The former Minister of Power, who recently resigned to pursue his governorship ambition, urged party members and supporters to focus on building internal unity and avoid misinformation about endorsements.

He added that his political ambition is centered on inclusive governance aimed at improving the welfare of residents, particularly the poor, women, youths, and other vulnerable groups across Oyo State.

The 2027 governorship race in Oyo State is already shaping up as a competitive contest within the APC, with stakeholders expected to play a key role in determining the party’s final candidate.
