United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said the United States is not concerned about reports that Russia may be sharing intelligence with Iran about US troop movements and military positions in the Middle East.

Speaking during an interview on the television program 60 Minutes, Hegseth said the US military is closely monitoring global intelligence activities and remains confident in its ability to track communications and respond appropriately to any potential threats.

While he declined to confirm whether Russia was actually providing intelligence to Iran, the defense secretary stressed that US commanders are fully aware of developments involving rival powers. According to him, the United States possesses the most advanced intelligence capabilities in the world and is constantly monitoring who is communicating with whom.

Hegseth said the military continues to assess any potential risk and take necessary measures to mitigate threats whenever they arise. He emphasized that such reports have not affected ongoing US military operations in the region.

The White House also downplayed the report earlier on Friday. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the alleged intelligence sharing was not having any impact on American military actions against Iran.

Leavitt stated that the United States and its allies are successfully achieving their operational objectives in the ongoing conflict. She added that US forces continue to maintain strategic superiority in the region.

According to a report by The Washington Post, Russia may have provided Iran with information regarding the locations of US military assets including ships and aircraft. The newspaper cited officials familiar with the intelligence findings.

The report comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following recent s on US positions. Six American service members were reportedly ed in a drone on a US base in Kuwait, while another strike targeted the CIA station in Riyadh.

Russia and China both maintain strong diplomatic and trade ties with Iran, and Moscow also shares military cooperation with Tehran. Both countries have criticized the ongoing US and Israeli military operations against Iran, raising concerns about wider geopolitical tensions in the region.
