FC Barcelona moved to the brink of securing the La Liga title after a composed 2 0 victory over Getafe CF on Saturday, thanks to goals from Fermin Lopez and Marcus Rashford.

The defending champions now sit 11 points clear of rivals Real Madrid, whose draw against Real Betis has significantly weakened their chances of lifting the trophy this season.

Under the guidance of coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona could clinch back to back league titles if they defeat CA Osasuna next weekend and Real Madrid fail to secure a win against RCD Espanyol.

Despite missing key ers Lamine Yamal and Raphinha due to injury, Barcelona managed to grind out a crucial win against a physical Getafe side known for disrupting opposition play.

The first half saw limited clear chances, although Dani Olmo came close after a sharp run but failed to hit the target. The breakthrough came just before halftime when Pedri delivered a precise pass to Lopez, who calmly finished despite wearing a protective mask following a recent facial injury.

Lopez celebrated by mimicking Yamal’s signature gesture in support of his injured teammate, highlighting the strong bond within the squad.

In the second half, Barcelona found more space as Getafe pushed forward. Goalkeeper David Soria denied Olmo, while defender Jules Kounde narrowly missed extending the lead.

The decisive second goal came when Robert Lewandowski set up Rashford, who calmly slotted past Soria to seal the victory.

The result leaves Barcelona within touching distance of the La Liga crown, needing just one more step to confirm their dominance in Spanish football this season.
