President Donald Trump has said that United States forces intercepted a ship allegedly carrying a “gift” from China to Iran, raising fresh concerns over military support during a sensitive ceasefire period.

Speaking in an interview with CNBC, Trump described the intercepted shipment as soing “not very nice,” suggesting it may have been intended to help Tehran restock its military capabilities. He expressed surprise at the development, noting that he believed there had been an understanding with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding arms transfers.

According to Trump, Xi had previously assured him that China would not supply weapons to Iran. The latest claim, however, appears to contradict that assurance and could further strain relations between Washington and Beijing.

While details of the intercepted ship and its contents were not fully disclosed, the allegation comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions involving Iran and its international partners. China has long maintained strategic and economic ties with Iran, including cooperation in energy and infrastructure.

The reported interception highlights ongoing concerns about arms transfers and regional ility, particularly during ceasefire periods when parties are expected to reduce hostilities and avoid escalation.

Neither Chinese nor Iranian officials have publicly responded to the claim at the time of reporting. Analysts say the situation, if confirmed, could complicate diplomatic efforts and deepen mistrust among the global powers involved.
