Nigerian gospel singer Salau Aliu Olayiwola, popularly known as Testimony Jaga, has criticised former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo over his recent comments on the concept of prosperity gospel, arguing that the idea is misleading and inconsistent with Christian teaching.

Osinbajo had recently sparked public debate after speaking against what he described as prosperity gospel, a position that has drawn mixed reactions from religious leaders and members of the public.

Reacting in a video circulating online, Testimony Jaga insisted that there is no distinction such as prosperity gospel, stating that the Christian message remains singular and centered on the teachings of Jesus Christ.

He also questioned Osinbajo’s moral authority to criticise church practices, pointing to his past role in government and asking what impact he made while serving as Vice President.

The gospel artiste further raised concerns about poverty in Nigeria, arguing that economic hardship must be acknowledged in religious messaging rather than downplayed.

According to him, the essence of the gospel is to bring hope, encouragement, and transformation to people facing difficult realities.

Jaga acknowledged that there are abuses within some religious spaces but maintained that such issues should not be used to discredit the broader Christian message.

He urged religious and political leaders to lead by example through actions that support the poor and demonstrate genuine commitment to societal development.
