Monaco midfielder Paul Pogba has said that Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes would be a Ballon dOr winner if he played for a dominant team such as Manchester City.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, Pogba praised Fernandes for his creativity, consistency, and leadership but suggested that his global recognition would be higher in a more successful environment.

Pogba stated that Fernandes belongs among the best players in the world and argued that team strength plays a major role in individual awards. He said Fernandes would be viewed differently if he were part of a team that consistently wins major trophies.

According to Pogba, Fernandes could even be placed among the top contenders for footballs most prestigious individual prize if he played in a stronger system with more dominance in major competitions.

He also added that individual awards are often influenced by team achievements rather than talent alone. In his view, players who do not win major trophies are less likely to receive global recognition regardless of their performance levels.

Fernandes has been one of Manchester Uniteds most important players this season, recording 18 assists in the Premier League and moving close to breaking long standing assist records. He has also contributed goals and leadership as United continue their campaign in domestic competition.

Since joining from Sporting CP in 2020, Fernandes has made more than 300 appearances for Manchester United and scored over 100 goals. He remains under contract until 2027 and continues to be a key figure in the squad.

Pogbas comments have reignited discussions about how much team success affects individual awards like the Ballon dOr and whether players in less dominant teams are unfairly overlooked despite elite performances.
