A faction within the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike has called on party members to end prolonged legal battles and focus on reconciliation as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.

The appeal was made on Wednesday during the 86th meeting of the party Board of Trustees chaired by Mao Ohuabunwa. Speaking at the meeting the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee Abdulrahman Mohammed urged members and stakeholders to put aside differences and work together to strengthen the party.

Mohammed said recent court rulings concerning the internal affairs of the party should encourage members to respect the rule of law and move forward in unity. According to him continued litigation among party members could delay key political activities and weaken the party ahead of the next national elections.

He stressed the importance of collective commitment from leaders and members across the country to rebuild trust within the party and focus on strategic preparations for the 2027 polls.

During the meeting party leaders also reviewed plans for upcoming political activities including state congresses and the proposed National Convention.
