Texas Tech track and field coach Wes Kittley has tipped Nigerian high jumper Temitope Adeshina to break the NCAA record after her continued dominance in the collegiate circuit.

Adeshina recently secured her third consecutive Big 12 indoor high jump title by clearing 1.96m, equalling the second-best mark in Texas Tech history and setting a new meet record. She is the first woman in Big 12 history to win three straight indoor titles since Rylee Anderson achieved the feat from 2021 to 2023.

The Nigerian athlete currently holds the top NCAA women’s high jump mark for 2026 at 1.96m, ranking fourth globally. Coach Kittley expressed confidence that she could surpass the 2m mark and potentially break the collegiate record held by Brigetta Barrett of the University of Arizona at 1.99m.

Adeshina has also broken the Nigerian national high jump record three times and was recently named on The Bowerman mid indoor watch list, placing her among the top collegiate athletes.
