Abuja: The Senator Nenadi Usman-led Labour Party (LP) has issued a sharp rebuke to Barrister Julius Abure for claiming to be the party’s national chairman, following the Supreme Court judgment of April 4, 2025, and a clear declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) stating otherwise.

In a statement signed by the party’s Interim National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwochocha, the Usman-led interim executive called on the Prosecutor-General of the Federation to expedite action on recommendations for Abure’s prosecution for impersonation and other alleged offenses.

The statement was issued in response to Abure’s claim that INEC’s refusal to upload particulars of LP aspirants for the upcoming council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as well as the Supreme Court judgment, were being misconstrued.

Senator Usman stated: “Labour Party is not for sale. Mr. Abure and his associates should seek legitimate means of livelihood, rather than attempting to commercialize political structures.” She added that Abure and his associates have filed over twenty court cases against INEC and the LP leadership, representing “a blatant abuse of court processes and a desperate attempt to plunge the Labour Party into deeper crisis.”

According to the statement, INEC, in compliance with Supreme Court and Federal High Court rulings, rightly refused to issue access codes for uploading the names of individuals who allegedly paid Abure under false promises to become candidates. Usman described Abure’s continued claims as “delusional” and evidence of “political amnesia.”

The party reiterated its commitment to legal compliance and warned against attempts to manipulate party structures for personal gain.
