Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo on Wednesday received decampees from all major political parties in the state, pledging to deliver 2.5 million votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Speaking at a rally held at the Garrick Memorial Ground, Ekenwan Road, Benin City, the governor welcomed members of the Africa Democratic Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, and Labour Party who joined the All Progressives Congress APC. He described Edo State as firmly in the grips of the APC ahead of the next election cycle.
Okpebholo attributed the surge in support for the APC to “visible and practical development across the state,” emphasizing that the administration’s achievements would speak louder than campaign rhetoric. He urged President Tinubu to visit Edo for project commissioning rather than campaigning, noting, “2027 and 2.5 million votes are sure for Tinubu.”
He also highlighted the unity within the state chapter of the APC and expressed confidence in further political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections. “We have a good father in President Tinubu and we all stand here today because we are proud of him and ready to deliver Edo for APC come 2027,” he said.
In a move that drew applause from the crowd, the governor invited Arise Television anchors Rufai Oseni and Reuben Abati to tour state projects, confident that firsthand inspection would validate his claims.
Okpebholo further stressed that all development in Edo State is supported by the federal government, stating, “Every kobo spent in Edo State is from President Tinubu.” With 31 governors nationwide under the APC platform, he reaffirmed that the ruling party remains politically secure and poised for success in the 2027 elections.
