Former Vice President and presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has raised concerns that the All Progressives Congress, APC, has failed to achieve the objectives behind its formation in 2014, noting that Nigeria’s challenges have worsened over the years.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Atiku said the APC was created to address weaknesses in the country’s democracy, including insecurity, economic struggles, and poor governance. He lamented that despite the party’s formation, the nation remains in a worse position than in 2014.

“We did this exercise in 2014, not so? We came together and formed APC because we felt democracy was faltering, only for us to end up at the same position we found ourselves in 2014, worse,” Atiku said.

He emphasized that the major challenges that existed at the time, such as insecurity and economic difficulties, have intensified, stressing the need for renewed efforts to strengthen democratic institutions.

“We must have that in mind. We must succeed to make sure that we restore true democracy to our country,” he added.
