Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully apprehended three individuals suspected of collaborating with terrorist groups in Taraba State. This operation, executed based on credible intelligence reports, took place on October 15, 2024, in Landey Jessy village, located within the Lau local government area.
In a statement released early Friday morning by the Acting spokesperson for the Brigade, Captain Oni Olubodunde, it was disclosed that the operation was prompted by rising concerns over bandit activity in the Kona mountain range, which stretches across the Jalingo and Lau councils.
The swift action of the troops led to the arrest of three suspects identified as Ahijo Sulaiman, Abdulrahman Isah, and Aisha Mohammed. During the questioning process, Aisha Mohammed, who is the wife of Ahijo Sulaiman, disclosed that their residence had been used to conceal weapons following terrorist operations.
Further investigations revealed that Abdulrahman Isah was recognized by a victim he allegedly attempted to kidnap in September 2024 in Iware, Ardo-Kola local government area. This development has raised significant concerns regarding the involvement of local residents in aiding criminal activities.
As of the latest reports, the three suspects are currently in custody, undergoing further investigation by the military authorities. The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while preserving the nation‘s territorial integrity.
