Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, 78, was discharged from Malaysia’s National Heart Institute (IJN) on May 31, 2025, after being admitted earlier that week due to fatigue. Following medical advice, he continued his rest at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kuala Lumpur before returning to Brunei.
During his stay in Malaysia, Sultan Hassanal met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Anwar reported that the Sultan was in good health and that his recovery was proceeding smoothly.
The Sultan had been in Kuala Lumpur to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, which took place on May 26 and 27, 2025. His hospitalization was a precautionary measure after he experienced fatigue during the summit.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has ruled Brunei for over 57 years, serving as the nation’s prime minister, finance minister, defense minister, and foreign minister. He is known for his significant influence in Southeast Asia and his contributions to Brunei’s development.
Following his brief hospitalization, Sultan Hassanal returned to Brunei with his consort, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, to continue his royal duties. The Brunei government has expressed gratitude for the well-wishes and support received during this period.
Can we discuss the impact of Bruneis Sultan seeking treatment in Malaysia? Is it a sign of trust in their healthcare system or just convenience?
Wow, can you believe the Sultan of Brunei had to go to Malaysia for fatigue treatment? Must be tough being royalty!
I find it interesting how a Sultans fatigue treatment is news. Do royals not get tired like the rest of us? 🤔
I find it strange how the sultans health is suddenly in the spotlight. What do you think is really going on?
Shouldnt he just take a break from ruling and enjoy retirement with his consort? Fatigue treatment is just a band-aid solution.
I cant believe he left his country during a pandemic for fatigue treatment. Shouldnt he prioritize Bruneis healthcare system first?
I find it interesting how much attention the Sultans health gets. Do you think its fair or too much?
Wow, shouldnt Bruneis Sultan be taking better care of himself instead of relying on Malaysian hospitals? Just a thought.
