Akpabio Celebrates Nigerian Women On International Women’s Day

President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated Nigerian women on the occasion of International Women’s Day, describing himself as a major beneficiary of the love and sacrifices of women.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President praised women for their dedication to family life and nation building.

Akpabio said the day provides an opportunity to recognise the contributions of mothers wives sisters daughters colleagues and friends who continue to work tirelessly to make society better. He noted that the efforts of women across homes workplaces and communities deserve appreciation and recognition.

Reflecting on his personal life Akpabio described mothers as one of the greatest gifts from God. He explained that he remains grateful for the sacrifices made by his own mother who he said devoted her life to raising and guiding him into the person he has become.

According to him women play a crucial role in nurturing children supporting families and strengthening the social fabric of the country. He emphasised that their contributions should always be valued and protected.

The Senate President also reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Senate and the 10th National Assembly to promoting greater participation of women in both economic and political activities across the country.

He stated that encouraging women involvement in leadership and development aligns with the theme of this year celebration which focuses on Give and Gain. He added that empowering women will help build stronger communities and a more inclusive society.

Akpabio congratulated women on behalf of his family constituents the Senate and members of the 10th National Assembly. He prayed for peace prosperity and continued recognition for the efforts women make every day in Nigeria and around the world.
