Akwa Ibom Women Endorse Tinubu Second Term During International Women Day Celebration

Women in Akwa Ibom State have declared their support for the re election of Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement took place during the visit of the First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to Uyo as part of activities marking the 2026 celebration of International Women Day.

Reports indicate that more than five thousand women gathered in the state capital to welcome the First Lady and participate in the celebration. The event highlighted the important role women play in society and the need to strengthen policies that support their rights and development.

While addressing the gathering Oluremi Tinubu described the theme of this year celebration which focuses on rights justice and action for all women and girls as a strong call for collective responsibility. She stressed that protecting the rights of women and girls through access to education economic empowerment healthcare and social protection is essential for national development.

According to the First Lady empowering women is not only beneficial to families but also vital for building a stronger and more prosperous nation. She urged women across the country to continue playing positive roles in their homes communities and businesses.

As part of the celebration the First Lady inaugurated a modern Senior Citizens Centre named in her honour. The facility was designed to provide healthcare recreation and social support for elderly residents in the state.

She noted that societies that respect and care for their elderly citizens demonstrate responsibility gratitude and continuity. She also encouraged families and communities to continue showing love and support to older relatives.

Also speaking at the event Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised the critical role women play in maintaining ility in homes and communities.

The Governor of the state Umo Eno also emphasised that the growth and success of any society largely depends on the contributions of women.

The highlight of the event was the official endorsement of President Tinubu Governor Umo Eno and Akpabio for another term in office by women groups across the state.
