Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has unveiled his highly anticipated sophomore album, “Iron Boy,” on April 3, 2025. This 15-track project marks a significant evolution in his musical journey, blending hip-hop, Afrobeats, and Highlife to explore themes of strength, vulnerability, and personal growth.
The album opens with “Victory Song,” a self-reflective piece where Black Sherif shares his journey from humble beginnings to international acclaim. Collaborations with Nigerian artists Fireboy DML on “So It Goes” and Seyi Vibez on “Sin City” add depth and diversity to the project. Production credits include Joker Nharnah, Dystinkt Beats, Afrolektra, Louddaaa, Samsney, AR Beats, Ayzed, Baba Wvd, Marvio, and Lekaa Beats. Sound engineers Samuel Sarpong and Mike Seaberg handled the final mix.
Upon release, “Iron Boy” received critical acclaim for its introspective lyrics and innovative sound. Music pundit Ricky Tenneson, however, expressed disappointment over the album’s failure to honor Ghanaian Highlife legend Amakye Dede, despite the album’s title suggesting a tribute. Commercially, the album achieved remarkable success. It became the first Ghanaian release to spend two full weeks on the Top 50 chart on Apple Music (USA) and set a record for the most streams in a day for a Ghanaian album on Spotify, hitting 2 million streams. “Iron Boy” peaked at number 10 on the US World Albums (Billboard) and number 5 on the Nigerian Top 100 Albums (TurnTable).
