Galaxy Backbone Shifts Focus from Infrastructure to Full Digital Solutions – Adeyanju

Galaxy Backbone is evolving from being a government-focused digital infrastructure provider into a full-fledged digital solutions company, its Managing Director/CEO, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, has revealed. Speaking in an interview with SAMI TUNJI, Adeyanju said the shift aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope framework to fully digitise ministries and improve service delivery.

Since assuming leadership, Adeyanju described his experience as “challenging and rewarding,” emphasizing teamwork across the organisation’s 500-strong staff. He noted that Galaxy Backbone’s mandate has expanded beyond hardware infrastructure to include software solutions aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness in governance.

On readiness for federal digitisation, Adeyanju confirmed that most ministries are already live on the One Government Cloud, with fewer than ten pending integration. “We have the capacity and resources to meet the 15 December deadline, ahead of the 31 December target,” he said.

Addressing concerns over network outages, slow connectivity, and cyber threats, Adeyanju highlighted investments in redundancy, robust fibre networks, and a state-of-the-art cybersecurity operations centre. He stressed that the human element, training, and adaptation are as critical as technology in ensuring smooth digital transitions.

Looking ahead, Galaxy Backbone plans to position Nigeria as a digital hub for West Africa, attract strategic international partnerships, and support government agencies with integrated digital services. Adeyanju envisions the company expanding beyond Nigeria, leaving a legacy as an internationally respected digital solutions provider while improving citizen access to government services.
