The former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate and ex-governor of Anambra State has firmly dismissed speculations about defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement shared on X, he clarified his stance, emphasizing that he has no plans—now or in the future—to join the APC or participate in its gatherings.

Addressing a social media report linking him to an APC event, he stated, “Let me make it unequivocally clear: I do not engage in toxic politics, blackmail, or any form of political manipulation. My name should not be associated with such narratives.” He reiterated his commitment to a principled approach, saying, “For the avoidance of doubt, both now and in the future, I am not a member of the APC, nor am I an intending member. My stance on politics has always been rooted in integrity, fairness, and issue-based engagement.”

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine expresses remorse over legalizing sports betting following recent scandals.

He urged political parties to prioritize competence, capacity, and compassion when selecting candidates, qualities he deems vital for advancing both Anambra and Nigeria. Commenting on Valentine Ozigbo’s recent move to the APC, he maintained that Ozigbo, like all aspirants, should be judged on these leadership traits within his new political home. “I wish all political parties the very best in conducting free and fair primaries, and I call on all stakeholders to uphold justice throughout the process,” he added.

Rejecting divisive tactics, he stressed, “We must reject toxic politics, for that is the only path to achieving the democratic nation we currently lack.” He envisions this shift as essential to realizing “the new Nigeria we seek,” underscoring his unwavering dedication to constructive and ethical political discourse. His statement serves as both a rebuttal to rumors and a call for a higher standard in Nigeria’s political landscape.
