Top members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State have called on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to stop any efforts aimed at reversing the outcome of the party’s governorship primary, which was won by Dr. Wole Oluyede.

At a press briefing held at the PDP secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, leaders including Deji Ogunsakin, Segun Adeola, Makanjuola Ogundipe, and Kola Oluwawole voiced their concerns. They warned against attempts to undermine the will of the people and urged national party leaders to stand firm against internal interference.

The group insisted that Oluyede was fairly elected and is widely accepted by the people. They believe the All Progressives Congress (APC) sees him as a strong contender, which is why there’s pressure to replace him.

“We are fully committed to winning the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti,” they declared. “We won’t allow anyone to trade away our future. The APC knows we’ve picked a candidate who can win—Dr. Wole Oluyede.”

They accused unnamed individuals of trying to push aside the primary results in favor of someone who didn’t earn public support. “The people voted with their hearts. They chose someone they trust to lead and bring victory to the PDP,” the leaders said.

They also pointed out that the primary was conducted peacefully and transparently, with results announced by Senator Ibrahim Dankwabo, a respected former governor and former accountant general of the federation.

The message from Ekiti PDP leaders was clear: respect the voice of the people, protect the integrity of the party, and let the chosen candidate lead the charge into the 2026 election.
