When she did, the couple engaged in playful banter, laughing and storytelling with their children. “They were talking, laughing, and even telling us stories,” the boy recalled. The illusion of calm shattered in the early hours when the boy awoke to the sound of a cutlass clashing. “I started hearing the sound of a cutlass,” he said. His sister grabbed a stone to break it down, but it held firm as their parents’ screams echoed inside. Desperate, the siblings sought help from neighbors. “We ran to the next house to get help from the living there,” he explained. By the time they returned with assistance, an eerie silence had descended. The neighbors forced the door , revealing a grisly scene: both parents lay dead in a pool of blood.
A resident speculated on the nature of the fight, suggesting, “It seemed as if the woman cut off the man’s private part, and in retaliation, he inflicted a fatal wound on her.” While the exact sequence remains unclear, the severity of the injuries points to a fierce struggle. The boy confirmed that neighbors rushed his parents to the hospital, though it was too late to save them.
