A Swedish court has convicted three men in connection with the 2024 murder of hip-hop artist C.Gambino, sentencing them to prison terms ranging from 10 months to life imprisonment. The court found that the men were accessories to the murder, which was described as an execution-style shooting that caused severe suffering to the victim.
The incident occurred on June 4, 2024, in a parking garage in Gothenburg, where C.Gambino, whose real name was Karar Ramadan, was fatally shot. The court determined that the crime was linked to a conflict between criminal networks and was committed using firearms in a public place, which was considered an aggravating factor.
The convicted individuals include Hassan Rabeie, 22, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for aiding and abetting murder by providing the getaway car, which was later burned to destroy evidence. Vide Atterstam, 20, received 15 years and six months for aiding and abetting murder and aggravated harboring of a criminal. Fatjam Vardari, 21, was sentenced to 12 years and six months for aiding and abetting murder. A fourth man, aged 19, was handed a 10-month prison term for protecting a criminal and vandalism.
C.Gambino was a prominent figure in the Swedish hip-hop scene, known for his masked performances and significant contributions to the genre. He had been named hip-hop artist of the year at the 2024 Swedish recording industry’s Grammis Awards, just a month before his death.
The case has drawn attention to the ongoing issue of gang violence in Sweden, with shootings and bombings becoming increasingly common in recent years. Authorities continue to grapple with the challenges posed by organized crime and its impact on communities across the country.
