The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully reconciled the warring factions within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the party, marking a significant step toward unity and cohesion. On Monday in Abuja, the National Vice Chairman (North) of the APC, Muazu Rijau, inaugurated the new State Working Committee (SWC) and charged them to commence their duties immediately. This move aims to strengthen the party’s structure and prepare for future electoral victories in the FCT.
The inauguration of the new SWC took place at the APC national secretariat, signaling a fresh start for the FCT chapter. Speaking after the reconciliation meeting, the Zonal Secretary of the APC North Central, Yakubu Mohamed, expressed optimism about the resolution of previous disputes and the party’s renewed unity. “I’m privileged to address you here today to announce the outcome of today’s gathering at the national secretariat with the newly reconciled executive of the party in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),” he said.
Mohamed emphasized that the party has overcome its internal challenges and is now united under a common goal. “There were a lot of issues, but we are now united. The party is united. They will now go back to start on a clean slate and work hard to deliver the party in the Federal Capital Territory,” he stated. He also confirmed that the APC now has an authentic list of the State Executive Committee, as well as the local government and ward executives in the FCT.
Looking ahead to the 2026 FCT Council elections, Mohamed expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure victory. He assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership that the FCT chapter would deliver all six area councils and 62 wards to the party. “We are promising the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, by the special grace of God, that come 2027, we are going to deliver the FCT for the APC,” he declared.
The reconciliation and inauguration of the new SWC underscore the APC’s commitment to resolving internal conflicts and strengthening its grassroots structures. With the FCT chapter now united, the party is poised to focus on its agenda of good governance, development, and electoral success. The renewed unity within the FCT APC is expected to have a ripple effect, fostering collaboration and cohesion at the local government and ward levels.
As the APC prepares for future elections, the resolution of internal disputes and the establishment of a functional State Working Committee in the FCT are critical steps toward achieving its objectives. The party’s leadership has demonstrated its ability to address challenges and unite its members, setting the stage for a stronger and more effective political organization in the nation’s capital.
