Tragic Death by Suicide in Ogun State: Dada Adesonye Found Hanging from Tree

A man named Dada Adesonye has died by suicide after reportedly hanging himself from a tree in the Afami area of Imasayi, located in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State. The incident was discovered in the early hours of Friday by a worker in the vicinity.

Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with a correspondent. Upon receiving information about the suspected suicide, police officers promptly visited the scene. During their investigation, they found several items, including a payment card and a sum of N2,000, near the body.

Odutola stated, “On October 18, 2024, at approximately 8:27 am, the Divisional Police Officer reported a suspected suicide incident. An Assistant at Dangote Cement Transport in Ibese informed the Dangote Police Post that he discovered a lifeless body around 8:10 am.”

The police are continuing their investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding Adesonye’s death. As the community grapples with this tragic loss, authorities are encouraging anyone struggling with mental health issues to seek help and support. The Ogun State Police Command has expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, highlighting the importance of raising awareness about mental health and the resources available for those in need.
