The All Progressives Congress has finalised arrangements to receive Vice President Kashim Shettima next Tuesday, when he will formally welcome Governor Dauda Lawal into the party.
The announcement was made by the state APC Chairman, Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, during a meeting with party stakeholders in Gusau on Saturday. Maikatako described Governor Lawal’s defection as a homecoming, noting that Zamfara has long been an APC stronghold and that Lawal had previously been a member of the party.
He urged all party members across the 147 wards and 14 local government areas of the state to turn out in large numbers to honour the visit. “This event is meant to strengthen and boost the popularity of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections,” Maikatako said. He also called on members to set aside factional differences and remain united for the common goal of advancing the party and the state.
Former state APC Chairman, Lawal M Liman, echoed the call for unity, encouraging party members to carry the message to their respective wards and local governments, emphasizing that the APC is one family working toward shared objectives for political success.
The visit by the Vice President and national leadership is expected to galvanize support for the APC in Zamfara, reinforce party cohesion, and signal Governor Lawal’s full integration into the party’s political fold.
