The World Health Organization issued an alert on January 28 2026 warning of a resurgence of measles outbreaks across parts of Africa Asia and Europe due to declining vaccination coverage.
Health officials said several countries have reported sharp increases in infections particularly among children. The WHO linked the rise to disruptions in routine immunization programs and growing vaccine misinformation.
The agency urged governments to strengthen vaccination campaigns and improve disease surveillance. It warned that measles remains one of the most contagious diseases and can lead to severe complications.
