Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has declared that Senator Ireti Kingibe will not return as the representative of the FCT, citing lack of accountability and measurable performance during her tenure.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Monday, Wike emphasised that political alignment alone is insufficient for collaboration in governance, stressing that results and tangible impact must guide leadership decisions. “Senator Ireti Kingibe won’t come back as senator of the FCT, and I still stand by it,” he stated.

Responding to claims by Kingibe that she had tried unsuccessfully to contact him, Wike dismissed the assertion, saying, “I don’t even know her number. I’m not the man who pretends. I don’t pretend, and I know I don’t pretend. I told you, mark it today—today is March 2. Look, your report card will show. What did you do as a senator when you were?”

Wike added that he intends to engage with communities in satellite towns to highlight achievements and ensure public officials are evaluated based on concrete contributions. “I want to go to satellite towns and communities so people can see what has been done. I’m not here to abuse anyone. Is friendship by force? No. I want to collaborate. But collaborate on what? Nobody says I’m not a minister. If you are a senator, make sure you do well. We shouldn’t be taking ideas for granted,” he said.
