The United Nations reported on January 27 that more than 37,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced in the occupied West Bank during 2025, marking one of the highest annual displacement figures recorded in recent years. The assessment was released by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs as part of its latest humanitarian update.

According to the report, displacement occurred due to a combination of military operations, demolitions of homes and infrastructure, settler related violence and access restrictions. The UN said many families were forced to leave with little notice, often losing homes, livelihoods and access to basic services.

The majority of those displaced were reported in northern West Bank areas and parts of East Jerusalem, where intensified security operations and demolition activity took place throughout the year. Children accounted for a significant proportion of those affected, raising concerns about long term impacts on education, mental health and ility.

UN officials warned that continued displacement is deepening humanitarian needs and undermining prospects for calm. They called on all parties to comply with international humanitarian law, including the protection of civilians and civilian property.

The report urged increased humanitarian access and funding to support displaced families, noting that many remain without permanent shelter or adequate assistance as tensions in the territory continue into 2026.
