President Bola Tinubu has thrown his full support behind FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, defending him against public backlash over recent demolitions and land enforcement actions in Abuja.

In a recent interview, Tinubu described Wike as a hardworking minister who is focused on bringing order back to the capital city. He said the real problem is not the minister’s actions but the way many Nigerians ignore their responsibilities, like paying ground rent and obeying city rules.

“Nigerians lack compliance, period. We see civic responsibilities as inconveniences,” Tinubu said. He added, “He’s a good man, Nyesom Wike, he’s a performing minister. I duff my hat for him.”

The president said Wike’s tough approach is needed to fix the problems caused by years of poor management. He assured the public that the minister’s actions are meant to bring accountability and proper planning to Abuja’s development.

  • I find it surprising that Tinubu is praising Wike for civic duties when their political ideologies clash. Its a strange political move.

  • Why is Tinubu blaming citizens for not fulfilling civic duties? Shouldnt leaders focus on empowering and engaging the people instead?

  • Tinubu praising Wike? Unexpected twist! Maybe theres hope for bipartisan collaboration after all. Citizens, take note!

  • I disagree with Tinubu blaming citizens for ignoring civic duties. People have valid reasons for disengagement. Lets not oversimplify complex issues.
