President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marked his 74th birthday on Sunday with a low key observance, choosing reflection over celebration in light of the nation’s current challenges.
In a heartfelt message, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu expressed deep admiration for the president, saying, “I love you and I am so proud of you,” in a tribute that resonated with many Nigerians.
Despite the personal milestone, the president emphasized the importance of focusing on national issues. In his address to citizens, Tinubu acknowledged the economic and social difficulties faced by Nigerians following the reforms introduced by his administration. He noted that while the journey has not been easy, there are encouraging signs of progress.
According to him, both domestic policies and global factors, including the Middle East crisis, have contributed to current challenges. However, he expressed optimism, stating that the sacrifices made by Nigerians are beginning to yield results and that there is a “glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.”

Shettima noted improvements in economic performance and infrastructure, adding that ongoing reforms are laying the foundation for a stronger future.
