Tinubu Congratulates APC, PDP Winners in FCT, Kano and Rivers Elections

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated winners of Saturday’s elections in the Federal Capital Territory, Kano and Rivers states, urging them to regard their mandates as a sacred trust and serve with humility, patriotism and dedication to the people.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for the conduct of the polls, describing the exercise as peaceful and well organised.

The elections covered chairmanship and councillorship positions across the six area councils of the FCT, including Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali and Abaji. By elections were also held in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.

According to results announced so far, the All Progressives Congress secured victories in Abaji, Kwali, Abuja Municipal and Bwari Area Councils, while the Peoples Democratic Party won in Gwagwalada. In Rivers State, the APC clinched both state assembly seats contested during the by elections.

President Tinubu also praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements in the territory, noting that the administration’s performance contributed to the APC’s electoral gains.

He further congratulated the APC national leadership and party members in Kano and Rivers states for their successes at the polls.

The President lauded INEC, security agencies and voters for ensuring a peaceful process, while commending contestants for demonstrating discipline and commitment to democratic values. He stated that the elections further strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions and encouraged INEC to continue refining its processes to deliver even more credible polls in the future.
