Sudanese Soccer Team’s Strength During Civil Conflict Sparks National Optimism

Amid Sudan’s ongoing civil war, the national soccer team, the Falcons of Jediane, stands out as a symbol of hope and unity. Since the outbreak of conflict in April 2023, which has claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced millions, the team has shown remarkable resilience.

Under the leadership of Ghanaian coach Kwesi Appiah, who was appointed in October 2023, Sudan qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco by finishing second in their group, surpassing stronger teams like Ghana and Niger.
