Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has cleared the air on viral claims that former Governor Willie Obiano has passed away, calling the reports completely untrue.

In a statement shared by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo said the rumor that Obiano died in a London hospital is “malicious and utterly false.” He confirmed that he personally spoke with Obiano, who is alive and doing fine.

Soludo expressed concern over how quickly false news spreads online, especially when it involves something as serious as a person’s death. “It is both wicked and completely irresponsible,” he said.

He urged bloggers and media outlets to check their facts before publishing, warning that careless reporting damages public trust. “The spread of unverified death rumours is not only wicked and irresponsible but also erodes public trust,” he added.

Soludo asked the public to ignore the trending story and reassured everyone that Obiano is in good health. He also sent warm wishes to the former governor, hoping for his continued peace, strength, and long life.
