Seven Feared ed in Terrorist on Niger Community

No fewer than seven persons have been ed in a fresh by suspected terrorists in Wawa community, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, plunging the agrarian settlement into mourning and renewed fear over worsening insecurity in the area.

Among the victims is a staff member of the Kainji Lake National Park, whose body had not been recovered as of the time of filing this report. Corpses recovered from the were deposited at the Basic Health Centre in Wawa.

Residents confirmed the tragic loss of their kinsmen, describing the incident as devastating and deeply traumatic for affected families. Community leaders said the violence has further heightened fear among residents, many of whom now live in constant anxiety over their safety.

According to credible sources, the crisis reportedly began after a prominent youth in the community was ed on his farm by suspected bandits. The incident sparked panic and anger among residents.

In response, a group of youths mobilised and ventured into nearby bushes in an attempt to confront the ers and rescue the victim. While some of the youths later returned safely, others were declared missing, raising serious concerns within the community.

As the search for the missing persons continues, residents have called on security agencies to intensify patrols and take urgent steps to restore peace in the area. The has once again drawn attention to the persistent security challenges facing communities in the Borgu Emirate and other parts of Niger State.
