Senegal were crowned champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a dramatic 1–0 win over hosts Morocco in the final held in Rabat on Sunday night.

The decisive moment came in the 94th minute when Pape Gueye scored, breaking the deadlock after a tense 90 minutes of goalless play. The match was marked by late drama, including a VAR-reviewed penalty awarded to Morocco, which Brahim Diaz failed to convert thanks to a crucial save by Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Despite intense pressure from the Moroccan side in the closing stages, Senegal maintained their composure to secure the victory and lift the prestigious trophy, ending the tournament on a thrilling note.
