“Today, being the 5th day of December, 2025, I’m in receipt of the newly instituted 200 billion naira suit against me by Senator Godswill Akpabio claiming defamation on sexual harassment,” she wrote.

Akpoti said the case will allow her a “chance to prove how I was sexually harassed”. She added that the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges would not hear her earlier complaint because Mrs Akpabio had already started a separate defamation case. The senator said that by Senate rules she had to bring the matter first to the Ethics Committee before going to court, and that rule kept her from filing sooner.
