Russia launches significant overnight strike on Ukraine, claiming ‘objectives were met’

In the early hours of December 6, 2025, Russia executed a significant assault on Ukraine, launching 653 drones and 51 missiles, coinciding with Ukraine’s Armed Forces Day. This prompted nationwide air raid alerts, with Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepting 585 drones and 30 missiles. Nevertheless, 29 sites were hit, resulting in at least eight injuries, three in the Kyiv region.

The primary targets of the assault were Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and transportation networks. Ukrenergo, the national energy operator, confirmed damage to power stations and energy facilities in various regions. A particularly severe strike affected the train station in Fastiv, causing significant disruptions to train services. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the s, emphasizing their impact on civilian infrastructure and highlighting the damage suffered by the Fastiv train station.
