President Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation for Justice Oyewole’s Supreme Court Appointment

ABUJA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally written to the Senate, requesting the confirmation of Justice Oyewole Kayode as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read the letter on Tuesday, noting that the nomination is made pursuant to Section 231(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.

The letter stated: “I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of Hon. Justice Oyewole Kayode as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. While it is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nomination expeditiously, please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”

Following the reading, Akpabio referred the executive communication to the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters. The committee has been tasked with reviewing the nomination and reporting back to the Senate as soon as possible for further legislative action.
