Hon. Isa Ashiru, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, has called on residents to promote peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance as Muslims and Christians observe Ramadan and Lent simultaneously.

In a goodwill message issued on Thursday, Ashiru extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah and the Christian faithful, describing the concurrent holy seasons as an opportunity for spiritual reflection and unity. He urged adherents of both faiths to practise kindness, compassion, and love for humanity.

“Islam is a religion of peace that promotes tolerance and mutual coexistence, with no room for hatred or violence,” Ashiru said, noting that the sacred periods should strengthen bonds of friendship and harmony across religious lines in Kaduna State.

Ashiru also prayed for peace, progress, and prosperity, highlighting that Kaduna currently faces insecurity and economic hardship, which he attributed to poor governance. He encouraged residents to put aside differences and work together for the common good.

He further appealed to traders not to exploit fasting periods by increasing food prices, stressing that such practices would worsen citizens’ hardships. Ashiru urged the Kaduna State Government to prioritise the welfare and wellbeing of residents, particularly during the holy seasons, and called for governance and relief efforts to remain non-politicised.
