Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George, has urged President Bola Tinubu to call the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, to order, describing his conduct during Saturday’s election in Abuja as a “complete embarrassment” to Nigerians.
Reacting to a viral video showing Wike addressing All Progressives Congress supporters at a polling unit and telling them to “leave the rest” for him after voting, George declared that Wike “is no longer a member of our party.”
George criticized the Presidency, INEC, and the Judiciary for allowing Wike’s behavior to go unchecked. “It is absolutely impossible for Wike to behave like a power-drunk fellow without the backing of Mr President,” he said. “Tinubu needs to realize this is his administration till 2027, not Wike’s.”
He warned that unchecked conduct by such officials could have wider repercussions, drawing parallels with historical figures who undermined Nigeria’s previous republics. “If there is any crisis in Nigeria, it will affect the whole of Africa. More than 200 million patriotic Nigerians won’t take this nonsense anymore,” George said.
He concluded by emphasizing that no individual, regardless of influence, should undermine the will of Nigerians, urging President Tinubu to take decisive action.
