Some members of the House of Representatives from Osun State have asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to accept the result of the recent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in the state.

In a joint statement released on Wednesday, six PDP lawmakers, Bamidele Salam, Mudashiru Lukman Alani, Akanni Clement Ademola, Adewale Moruf Adebayo, Adetunji Abidemi Olusoji, an td Oladebo Lanre Omoleye said the primary was not valid. They claimed it was forced on the state by outside influence and did not follow the party’s rules.

They accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of interfering in Osun’s political affairs. According to them, he brought in “thugs and political jobbers” from Ibadan to control the process. They said this kind of interference could cause unrest and disrupt the peace in Osun.

Calling the event a “purported governorship primary,” the lawmakers said it was a sign of Governor Makinde’s desire to control politics beyond his state. They stressed that the PDP has a clear process for primaries, including the proper election of delegates, which they said did not happen in this case.

“We unequivocally reject the fraudulent conduct of a purported primary which threw up one Adebayo Adedamola Fryo as the PDP candidate in the 2026 elections,” the lawmakers said.

They also warned Fryo not to present himself as the party’s candidate, saying doing so would be “criminal impersonation” and could upset the peace among PDP members in Osun.

The lawmakers criticized what they called Governor Makinde’s “blind ambition and political immaturity.” They used a Yoruba proverb to caution him, saying someone accused of theft should not dance near chickens at night. They said while Makinde may have silenced opposition in his own state, he should not bring that behavior to Osun, where the current governor includes everyone in decision-making.

They urged INEC to ignore what they called “phony results” and to follow the law when recognizing candidates for the 2026 election.

Meanwhile, Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola was announced as the winner of the PDP primary held at Adolak Hall in Osogbo. He received 919 votes after former governor Ademola Adeleke, who was expected to run, left the party just before the primary.
