Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has called on the Abia State Government to immortalise late evangelist Uma Ukpai as preparations continue for his burial in Ohafia.
In a statement he personally signed, Kalu described the late cleric as a spiritual icon whose ministry and humanitarian efforts impacted countless lives across Nigeria and beyond. He noted that Ukpai’s life was defined by service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to humanity.
According to the senator, the upcoming burial presents an opportunity for the state government to take concrete steps in preserving Ukpai’s legacy. He emphasized that immortalising the evangelist would not only honour his contributions but also serve as a source of inspiration for younger generations.
Kalu stressed that at a time when societal values are increasingly challenged, celebrating individuals like Ukpai is essential in promoting moral discipline and integrity. He added that the late preacher’s teachings helped shape the moral consciousness of many, encouraging leaders and citizens alike to embrace humility and dedication to service.
