Onoh Congratulates Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Appointment as Nigeria Ambassador to Greece

Former presidential aide Josef Onoh has congratulated Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi following his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic of Greece.

In a statement released on Saturday, Onoh described the appointment as well deserved, noting that it recognizes Ugwuanyi’s contributions to national development and his record of leadership in public service.

Ugwuanyi, who served as Governor of Enugu State from 2015 to 2023, was widely known for initiatives aimed at grassroots development and empowerment during his administration. According to Onoh, his tenure left a lasting impact on the political and socio economic landscape of the state.

“This role is a testament to your unwavering dedication to public service and the indelible mark you have left on Nigeria’s political landscape,” Onoh said.

He expressed confidence that the former governor’s diplomatic experience and leadership would help strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Greece, particularly in areas such as trade, tourism, education, technology and cultural exce.

Onoh also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Ugwuanyi to the diplomatic position, describing the decision as one that reflects foresight and commitment to selecting individuals with proven integrity and competence.

According to him, the appointment demonstrates the administration’s dedication to advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy goals and improving the country’s global standing.

The former presidential aide further acknowledged the role of Peter Mbah for sustaining development in Enugu State during the leadership transition.

Onoh also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, whom he described as a loyal ally and a key figure in promoting unity and collaboration within political circles.

Reflecting on his personal relationship with Ugwuanyi, Onoh said the ambassador is not only a former boss but also a close friend, brother and trusted ally. He noted that despite misunderstandings in the past, their bond remains strong.

He wished the newly appointed ambassador wisdom, good health and success in his diplomatic mission, adding that Nigeria is proud of his continued service.
