Off-duty NYPD officer fatally shoots man on Staten Island pointing fake gun

An off-duty New York Police Department (NYPD) officer fatally shot a man on Friday night in Staten Island after the individual pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the officer. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near the rear of a local diner, prompting a 911 call reporting a man with a gun.

Upon arriving at the scene, the off-duty officer, accompanied by a colleague, observed the man holding what appeared to be a firearm.
