Nigeria international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has downplayed the possibility of returning to the Nigeria Premier Football League as he considers his next career move following his departure from Chippa United.
The 29 year old shot stopper is currently without a club after leaving the South African side in February a decision that came after he requested to move on from the Eastern Cape outfit.
Amid calls from fans and former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peterside Idah urging him to temporarily return to domestic football Nwabali made it clear that his focus is on opportunities outside West Africa particularly in more competitive and financially le leagues.
Explaining his position Nwabali pointed to the structure and financial appeal of leagues in regions such as Europe and North Africa noting that better pay improved organization and sponsorship opportunities are key factors influencing players’ decisions.
The goalkeeper who has previously featured for several NPFL clubs including Enyimba FC Lobi Stars FC and Katsina United FC emphasized that players naturally gravitate toward environments that support their growth and offer ility.
Nwabali has also been linked with a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs but he described the reports as mere speculation stating that no concrete agreement has been reached.
Despite being unattached the goalkeeper remains unconcerned about his future or his place in the national team insisting that he will only make a move when the right opportunity presents itself.
He added that he is open to playing anywhere in the world as long as the conditions are right highlighting his flexibility and readiness to embrace new challenges.
For now Nwabali continues to weigh his options carefully with his next move expected to shape the next phase of his professional career.
